Broad-billed Hummingbirds reach the northern limit of their range in southeastern Arizona - the hummingbird capital of North America. While migratory to Arizona, they are present year round in the mountainous areas of Mexico. The painting is also about using just 3 colors, red, green and blue, the primary colors of light. While in graphic design (an area in which I have worked since I was 17) the term "rgb" has a very specific meaning, the fact that all colors can be derived from the these three is a small miracle of life, of the gift of sight, too often taken for granted.
