Rather than painting the sycamores around this stream running down through Harding Canyon in the Santa Ana Mountains, I found their reflections in the water more interesting. This made for a very dynamic composition that looked like stained glass to me. The Scrub Jay added a focal point of realism to balance the abstract quality of the reflections in the stream.
