Temperate rainforest complexity

Visiting the forests of wettest parts of the Pacific Flyway has given me the opportunity to explore a luxuriant abundance of themes that can be found throughout much of my work: obscured and intensified light, luminous colors, complex tangles of lacy and jagged shapes contrasting with long, graceful, flowing lines and sharp diagonals. In increasingly rare habitats of ancient trees and uncontrolled water, where abundant rain meets fertile ground, I aim to convey my deep feelings of amazement for the productivity of the earth, for the lushness, for the worlds within worlds, for the drama of birds blending into the shadows or spotlighted in a clearing.
